Car Alarms: 1999 Subaru Forester: Disabling Valet Mode, valet mode, subaru forester

Question
Don't have keyless remote.
Battery was disconnected for a long time, alarm went off when hooked up and started.  Found Valet button.  This fixed it, and it worked fine (able to start with key, no Valet button needed).
Battery disconnected AGAIN for a long time.  Valet button stopped the alarm, but now it will only start if I hold the Valet button.
How do I get it back to normal so that I can just open the door, put in the key, and start the car?
Thank you!

Answer
Failed alarm system. Hard to say why, just seems to be.
Suggested course here is to extract, replace and or
repair.

There is obviously a starter kill relay inline as well.
Annoying. Take this out.

Go to my site at www.WIRINGCHARTS.com .
Aquire the wiring chart for the Forester to safely
retrofit and re install a system and be happy.
