Car Alarms: python 1400XP, interface device, designtech

Question
I just purchased a Python 1400XP remote start/door lock setup, and the guy installing it (idiot) cannot get the remote start to work, and he says you have to have the computer to make it work. I already purchased the interface device which he has installed. what else do i need?? please help explain the procedure to me.
