Car Alarms: Toyota Avalon Alarm RS3000, car alarm installer, toyota avalon

Question
QUESTION: I have a 98 auto. Toyota Avalon, after a ride yesterday, I think before I shifted the gear to Parking, my child opened the rear door, which I believe triggered the alarm, a sound like the one you use the remote control to lock the door when one of the doors is cracked open.  It will not stop and the headlights are on now -- not flashing, but stay on.

When I realized the problem, I tried using the remote control to reset it, but didn't stop it.  And I noticed there were cracking sounds under the hood, which made the back light of the AC indicator and the clock flashed back and forth for a while.

I tried to disconnect the battery, but as soon as I connect it again, the sound appears again.

It drives me crazy, how can I turn it off?  Please help!

Thanks!

ANSWER: It's after market from the numbers given.
Try looking for the valet switch under
the dash, or on the window glass so you can
try to reset (KEY ON, PRESS AND HOLD VALET BUTTON
UNTIL YOU GET A CHIRP, KEY OFF=OVERRIDE)

Then the alarm would have reset, and you would then
repeat the same steps to toggle back to live mode.

Let me know if this applies to yours.

QUESTION: Thanks for your quick response.
However, I could not locate "the valet switch under the dash, or on the window glass".  I am the original owner of this car and this security system RS3000 came with it.  I looked in the Owner's manual and the RS3000 User's manual, but had no luck in finding such a switch.

The headlights are off though after the battery being disconneted for a while.  Is there another possible location for this switch?

Thanks.

Answer
"RS" usually denotes a remote starter is also part
of the system.
If there is an antenna on the widow glass, there might be
an inset button on the anatenna itself. If not,
might want to take it to a car alarm installer
for evaluation.
