Car Alarms: Chevy Trailblazer Alarm, chevy trailblazer, theft deterrent system

Question
QUESTION: The theft deterrent system on my daughter's 2002 Trailblazer goes off for no reason.  After 30 seconds it turns off.  No one or nothing is around the vehicle.  The key fob is in her bedroom with no one around it. Any suggestions on what to look for that can cause false triggering?

Thanks,

ANSWER: Please be more descriptive if possible.

"GOING OFF?"

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.

QUESTION: Goes off means becomes activated.

It is headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded "SECURITY" light in the dash flashing.
It is factory.

Answer
Then have it evaluated by a GM tech,
My expertise is in the aftermarket and it sounds
like yours is having either low voltage issues,
or a faulty passlock system. In any case, GM
is the best place to isolate the cause and reset
by diagnostic code writers.

Good luck.
