Car Alarms: valet switch, dash area, button spring

Question
I purchased a pre-owned 2001 Ford F150. It came with 1 key, nothing for the car alarm. I was told the car alarm was inactivated. This last weekend, I changed the battery, solenoid and starter before I was told abt the car alarm. I've read your instruction regarding this, but I can't find the valet switch. Could you offer more specific direction? Also, do I just repeat the process- "Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward all the way just before cranking. Then within 5 seconds, locate, press and hold in the valet/overide button, found under the dash area, (push button, spring loaded)until the installed LED (the blinking light)in your dash area goes on solid,
and the siren chirps once." until I hear the chirp?

Answer
Only if this is an aftermarket system. If it's the OEM system and the
PATS ignition transponder that you reset, you will need Ford
to reset the code. No other way to get that done.

After market=
siren/flashing parking lights/starter kill (no crank at all).

Factory= horn honking, headlight flashing, crank but no fuel
getting to the injection (cranks, but no spark)

You tell me which is yours but, I am
leaning towards the factory transponder, because of the work
you did. :>(
