Car Alarms: Someone got into my 2008 Dodge Avenger, 2008 dodge avenger, dodge avenger

I have a 2008 Dodge Avenger,base model, with factory alarm.  Last night, I locked the doors, and this morning the car was unlocked and had been ransacked.  How is it possible that someone was able to get in without the alarm going off?  Is this model easy to break into?  What type of alarm do I need to get to avoid this problem?

You need a 2 way system like the K9 Eclipse 2 2way system.
If breached the siren would sound, the lights will
flash, and your key chain remote would be notified
up to 1500 feet of the breach.

Can't say why the factory alarm failed you.
I would need to inspect it but I am certain
