Car Alarms: Malfunctioning Factory alarm, chevrolet silverado, solution kit

I have a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado that decides not to start every once in a while - it will turn over but won't start.  I have a factory installed alarm (horn honks, security light goes on..) that I don't use since I don't have the controls for it and I've installed an afterfactory alarm.  I've gotten strainded several times by the truck turning over but not starting - it's taken anywhere from 15 minutes to 2 hours to get it started.  I've had the fuel pump/assembly replaced and numerous other items fixed but that hasn't helped the situation.  I've taken it in several times but it always starts at the mechanics.  I was told that it could be the factory alarm since the security light comes on.  Can I disarm the factory alarm - or is this something that the dealership has to do.  With all the other repairs I've done (and it still not starting all the time) I'm running low on funds.
