Car Alarms: remote for car alarm, toyota sequoia, alarmtek

Question
I have a "02 Toyota Sequoia with an aftermarket alarm system.  We have had a problem with the remotes soon after having it installed.  We have a lot of difficulty locking and unlocking the car with the remote.  We have changed the batteries, cleaned the contacts with alcohol, but to no avail, it takes about 10 tries to get the car to lock or unlock.
Do you have any suggestions?

Yes ma'am, trash that POS and get a decent system
with great range and does what you ask of it to do.
