Car Alarms: 2002 Ford Taurus Factory Alarm, ford taurus, alarmtek

Have a question. I have just bought a 2002 Ford Taurus with a factory alarm. I have noticed that when I set the alarm or when it goes off just the horn beeps and no lights. My friend owns a 2003 Taurus and the lights flash when the alarm sounds. Is this something that only the 2002 year models do or is there way to program the lights to flash. Just curious about it.

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.
