Car Alarms: Alarm has power, but not functioning, acura integra, panic mode

I have a 1996 Acura Integra with a factory-installed alarm. The remote control for it is the only part with model ID/information: Part # 08E51-ST7-2M0-01, Serial # AW53803468.

It worked fine for several years, but now there is no response from the "lock/unlock" button. Holding the button until it induces "panic mode" still works, as the alarm will go off, but I cannot actively arm the system.

When working correctly, the LED light would flash when the alarm was armed. Now, the LED will light up steady for about 5 seconds anytime I open the car's doors, so it is obviously still receiving power and recognizes the door's open/closed sensor.

Any thoughts on why it doesn't seem to arm, even though it obviously is still function? I've tried switching the "Autolock" mode to on or off...
