Car Alarms: Car Alarm, alarmtek, honda accord ex

Question
QUESTION: I have a 99 Honda Accord EX. The factory alarm keeps going off for no reason. No one will be near it and and it will just go off. Sometimes all night long. Can i disarm the alarm altogether or is this an indication of something wrong with the car and/or alarm??

ANSWER: Please be more descriptive if possible.

"GOING OFF?"

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.

QUESTION: The headlights and backlights flash and the horn honks really loud. It does the same thing if i were to press the panic button or pull up the lock through the window when i was outside the car.

Answer
Hmmm, interesting. It seems to be "reading" a door open or,
a light that's on when you leave the car.

Try this:
When the alarm is triggered, put the key in the
drivers door, turn left, then right
to disarm and unlock. This should reset it. If no joy,
Honda will need to look at it and evaluate the issue
so it can be repaired.
