Car Alarms: remote start, valet mode, fcc id

Question
I have a 2005 Ford explorer with a factory remote start i bought it used from carmax . when i hit the key button on the remote it just makes the dash lights blink.i looked under the dash and checked the fuses in the box under there they were fine . there is a little push button mounted under the steering column with a thin brown wire not sure what it dose

Answer
Unlikely to be a "factory" remote starter in this vehicle.
Probably put in at the dealer upon first sale.

It also sounds like you need to identfy it.
(use your FCC ID # at www.remotesunlimited.com)
and then locate the manufacturerer.

Try this too.
Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, press and hold in the valet/overide
button you found under the dash area,
until the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area goes off, and the siren chirps twice.
Could alson honk the horn.

This should reset the system.

Just Repeat these steps to place it
back to valet mode.

That should do it.
Let me know what happens.
