Car Alarms: Is my car alarm suppose to go off, time heidi, honda accord

I have a 2007 Honda Accord.  It was broken into via my drivers side front window, so my window was shattered.  The alarm, the one that comes with the car, did not go off.  I feel that if it had, my valuables would not have been stolen out of my trunk.  I was just wondering if you think that the alarm was suppose to go off or not.

Understood.
  It is not the best factory alarm, and once the door is opened
without the key, and it's locked, the horn would sound, and the
headlights would flash. If yours did not go off, then
it's about useless, huh?!

My best suggestion now is to enhance what you have.
Get an after market system and then the problems
should stop.
