Car Alarms: Karr alarm in 2001 Ford Ranger, transmission specialist, transmission pan

Question
Help. This dealer installed car alarm has been great for the past 7 years. When I press the remote unlock, the horn beeps once and the drivers door unlocks. When I press the remote lock, the horn beeps twice and both doors lock. When I start the vehicle and put it in drive, the doors lock automatically. When I turn the ignition off, the doors unlock automatically. Until now.
Yesterday I took my truck to a transmission specialist because of a shifting from 1st to 2nd problem. I left the truck with the repair tech for an estimate. When I picked up my truck at the end of the day, I did not notice that pressing the remote unlock did not get the one horn beep. And, since the door was already unlocked, I did not notice that the auto unlock was not working. Until I got home and pressed the remote lock button the doors locked but no horn beep. I took it back to the tech who said all they did was remove the transmission pan and that they touched nothing else. But try as I might, I cannot get the hornbeep that indicates the alarm system is working. The panic button still honks the horn. But with the remote button lock pressed, no beep, and if I open the door, no alarm. What the heck do I do? What could the transmission tech have done? We checked all the fuses and all are good.
Thanks for any help.
