Car Alarms: car alarm goes off frequently, subaru impreza sti, 2005 subaru impreza sti

Question
i have a 2005 subaru impreza sti and i have a compustar aftermarket security system installed. i got the car in october 2004 and got the alarm installed around 2 days later so it is about 3 and a half years old now. and recently about a week and a half or so ago, the alarm started going off quite a bit, around 2-3 times per day. i was super paranoid in the beginning because i thought someone was trying to steal my car. but checking out the car carefully there were no signs of theft whatsoever, nothing damaged scraped, even the morning mildew that develops has no indentations or handprints or anything like that so after a while i started to suspect it wasnt theft. i also thought it was a cat or so jumping on the hood or other part of the car but it wasnt the case because there were no paw prints or anything. so i am thinking something must be wrong with the alarm itself. since it began going off, id say it has gone off a total of 15-20 times, whether at home, outside of work or other places i go. i noticed it goes off after a few hours of just sitting, meaning it wont go off after 30 mins or so after arming it. its gone off after 6+ hrs of leaving the car, and would go off again after going off the first time with time gaps of 1 hr to 4 hrs. it varies. plz help me out......im tired of waking up every night at 3am hehe.

Answer
The shock/impact sensor seems to be the likely
culprit here.

It's usually to be found under the dash area,
blinking when anything taps on the underpanel.
Locate and either unplug or turn down.
To simply disarm it, locate and use the
valet/overide switch.

To start, look under the dash area for a button or,
a toggle switch. When you locate it, turn on the
ignition key, press and hold in the button (little
spring loaded micro button, red or black possibly)
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid.=VALET/OVERIDE

This stops the alarm except for the keyless
entry if installed. The next step is to
either remove the alarm or, try to identify,
and get new remotes for it.

But once in Valet mode, it will allow the car
to start and operate like there was no alarm at all.
You'd repeat the same steps to go back into user mode.

Let me know how it goes.
