Car Alarms: Car Alarm: wheres the kill switch?, car alarm systems, ford laser

Question
Hi, my Dad bought a 1990 automatic ford laser for me recently which was not working and fixed it up. It had an after-market alarm in it, but we didn't know that it was still hooked up at the time as the light was not on, and it wasn't stopping the car or making a sound, and of course it isn't in the manual.
Recently I flattened the battery, and after it was restarted the led came on flashing, and the car has randomly beeped at me when opening the doors. (sometimes yes, sometimes no, doesn't seem to make a difference whether using the key or not.) Wasn't really a problem tho.
Until tonight when I went to go to work at 11pm, the car alarm went ballistic & wouldn't let me start the car. Didn't stop til I had closed the door and stepped away for a while. Tried entering with key (door had been unlocked before) and same thing happened.
There's a sticker on the back window that says Magnum car alarm systems. Where would the kill switch be, or do I have to turn the key in any particular way to get in without upsetting it? Not working so far, and don't think the neighbours are going to like me trying to scrabble round without a clue again. Dad didn't find any extra switched when it was up home. help!

Answer
Ok, on this one,
You'll need to set off the alarm for a few seconds.
Then, look under the dash area for a button or, a toggle
switch. When you locate it, turn on the ignition
key, press and hold in the button (little
spring loaded micro button, red or black possibly)
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid.

At this point. the alarm would have reset.
If this had a starter kill relay installed,
it would now be opened, and the engine would
turn over when tried.

You would repeat these steps to go back to
user mode to see if this was corrected.

But if it does work, I'd keep it this way, and
replace the alarm asap with one you know and
understand how it operates for the best overall
experience.

Let me know if it works for yours.
