Car Alarms: My VW alarm wont stop..., alarmtek, best possible outcome

QUESTION: So it was 3 am in the morning my car is sitting in the driveway and i wake up to the alarm going off. I turn it off my first reaction was that somebody was breaking in, Well i went back to bed. 4 or 5 mintues later it went off again. im thinking what is going on i did the same thing turned it off and went back to bed, well again for the third time the alarm went off AGAIN. I went out and turned my bug on and the trunk button was lit, but the trunk wasnt open so i opened it and closed it and it was still on but this time dimmed a little, Would this have anything to do with the alarm going off? I noticed when i opened up the trunk where the latch is there was moisture... PLEASE HELP its so ANNOYING. Its a 2002 vw bug

ANSWER: Please be more specific.

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.

Bad news I am afraid then.
  You need to have VW look at and reset this one as it
is built into the door lock mechanism, and will
need the factory diagnostic machine to reset it.

Wish I had better news, but it's best with
V'dub to get them to do these systems themselves.

I have a 99 Passat 20v turbo, and don't touch it
electronically for that reason.

Better left to the folks at VW for the best possible
outcome on they're equipment.
