Car Alarms: 96 Sable Bilnking Theft light, mercury sable, cart before the horse

Question
Hope you can help me here. I have a 96 Mercury Sable that occasionally the theft light will blink rapidly and the car starts only for a few seconds then shuts down. It's my understanding that the ignition key security module located inside the steering column is faulty somehow. When this problem occurs I turn the key on and off several times and at this point it starts. Then I may not have this problem again for a few days to a week and it happens again.I called a few places and one says it might be computer and the other said that the key is not being read?... So I've come to the conclusion that the module inside the column is loose or bad. My question to you is do you have any other clues to what this is?..Can I somehow bipass the theft system so I don't have starting problems?..or is there a simple fix for my problem?...Thanks

Answer
Nope. Not going to tell you there is.
The only way a bypass can work, is if the system
being bypassed ALREADY works. Catch 22 I know,
but that's truth.

The best bet here is to have Mercury/Ford
diagnose the trouble, fix it, then you can
permanantly disable it from arming again
using a bypass designed to do so. It's
the only way I know of to fix this issue.
Sorry, I know that's not what you wanted to hear,
but unfortunately, it's "cart before the horse" on
this one.

Have to fix it, to then make it inert.

Good luck with it.
