Car Alarms: Autowatch 160RLi not sounding, valet mode, car ignition

Question
Hi,

my car is fitted with an autowatch 160RLi alarm.

it was broken into a little while ago and almost stolen. nobody heard the alarm go off.
it was only the immobiliser that stopped it from being taken.

when they tried to take it, they pulled the wires out of the back of the siren under my bonnet. theoretically, if this happens, the alarm will continue to sound as there is a back-up battery within the alarm.

having got my car ignition fixed etc. my alarm is working fine and does everything its meant to apart from making a noise.

the siren doesnt work anymore, even though i soldered the wires back up where they broke.

so i guess im asking why doesnt it work, or will i need a new one?

i think i remember reading somewhere that the LED would flash codes of any faults within the system. Is this true and is there a chart so i can see if the siren is at fault?

is there anything i can do before taking it to a specialist?

any help appreciated
Cheers.

Answer
It's best to simply replace the siren on this I think.
Have you metered the siren wire output
on the Autowatch? It will show 12 volts when the alarm
is triggered. Try that to be certain the alarm
is not shorted out to begin with.

But first consider this point...
...if the alarm is in service or, Valet
mode, try toggling in and out of it to reset
the alarm. Many alarm brands, when in service
mode, the siren is not working as a matter of course.
The keyless entry is working if installed, and that's
about all. If this sounds like your issue, try
this first before the replacement of the siren.

Let me know what you discover.
