Car Alarms: 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee Anti-theft Start Cuttout, jeep grand cherokee, orange wire

Question
Hi,
My Cherokee wouldnt start about two weeks ago, we jump started it and drove it home as I got to the house it died again which told me the altenator was bad, it sat in my garage for about two weeks until I could get a new battery and altenator. During that time it started beeping in the cab constantly and then died completely. I have now replaced both the alt and bat and now the beeping is back and wont stop the alarm clicks on and off and the lights flash but the beeping continues and the car will not do anything when I turn the key. My guess is that it is the anti theft system cutting out the start curcuit my question is how can I get this fixed can only a dealer do the work and how can I get past it to get the car started.
THanks for your help
Tim

Answer
In this model year the Factory alarm disarm wire requires a 463 ohm resistor to ground on the lt.green/orange wire at the drivers door lock switch, you MUST use a relay to get that done. See NEGATIVE relays at www.relayhelp.com

Once done though, the factory alarm functions cease.

Then if the beeping continues, your issue is not
the factory alarm, but either an aftermarket setup,
or another system in the Jeep that is causing the beep
feed back.

Try the ground first an see if that solves it.
