Car Alarms: Weird alarm problems, 1978 buick electra, buick electra

Question
I think we have something here.  I went ahead and took out the brain of my alarm and I opened it up and have found that theres a few things burnt out in it, how that happened I don't know but common sense tells me thats the problem.  I would've never figured, at the same time yes my battery keeps dying on me, all this was driving me nuts! The good thing is that all the wiring is in its place so yes all I have to do is just simply relace the brain box and I should be ready to go. Thanx for your top notch knowledge, that might have been a no brainer for you but for us simple people that would've been a total break down for my car. Oh by the way I have the autopage rf-310 series. Thanx again!

-----Question-----
I'm having some kind of weird problem locking my doors with my keyless remote on my 1978 Buick Electra.  Usually when I lock and arm my car I hit the lock button and the alarm beeps once, the doors all lock and my parking lights flash all at the same time confirming my car is secure, now when I go to arm my car the alarm will beep once, but my doors won't lock and my parking lights stay on, I literally have to diconnect the battery to turn them off.  if you can help please tell me what could the problem be I'd greatly appreciate it, thanks.
-----Answer-----
Well, this one I would have to look at closer,
but from first glance I'd say there is an open
relay in the alarm brain box. Best and honest
suggestion is to replace it. Bench testing only
confirms the electronics fault on the brain's
motherboard, but I can save you the time.

You need to pull the brain now, or you will continue
to drain the battery.

Not expensive to replace a basic car alarm
with keyless entry/trunk release.

But it will be pricey each time you have
to replace dead batteries.

That again, is my first take on this one.
What is the make of the alarm?

Answer
Excellent. Nailed it in the begining.
Just please make a concerted effort to
locate the reason WHY it went bad.

You know, freyed wire, wrong connection etc...
Better to locate the trouble prior
to pluggin in the next one.

Have a good one, and I am
glad we figured it out before you really
got into pulling everything!
