Car Alarms: Problems Starting, dodge neon sxt, 2004 dodge neon sxt

Question
I had forgotten to tell you that when the car didnt start, I had tried to get a jump from my father. Which didn't help. The car stil did not start. And the lights which were bright and normal)and my radio still went on. Thats why im not to sure if it is the battery. I don't know too much about cars. Do you still think maybe its the battery. This car has been nothing but a problem. Runs great but i just have problems with starting it.

-----Question-----
Alright I have a problem dealing with starting my car. I have a 2004 Dodge Neon SxT. When i try to start the car it just clicks once and just won't start at all. So I had it towed to a local mechanic. Where they had fixed the starter. And it was fixed. A week later I had the same problem so I had it towed back to the mechanic and when they tried starting the car they had no problem. Now I had also had a Viper 771xv alarm installed maybe 2 months ago. But the remote start wasn't activated I just wanted it for the alarm. Now I'm thinking that it might be my alarm. When I brought it back to where I had it installed they told me there was no problem with it. They had also told me that when the engine is off there should only be .015 amps going through to the battery. But in my case my car has .5 amps going through. And he said that this might be my problem. Do you have any suggestions in helping me because i feel as if i'm running in circles. Anything would help!

If you are getting a 'click' when you try to start the car with a key then it is not your alarm.  The alarm has a starter kill option that breaks the wire from the key cylinder to the starter.  If this was active while trying to start you would not get a click at all, you would get nothing.

I have run into problems in the past where the battery in the vehicle had a bad cell and although most of the time the car would start occasionally it would act as you are describing.  I would have the battery load tested, if you have not already.

Your current draw does indeed seem too high.  I would recommend having the Viper disconnected and then recheck the draw.  You only have to pull the fuses supplying the system to do this test.  If after you pull the fuses and the draw is still there, it is not the alarm.  If you pull the fuses and the draw is gone, then I would strongly recommend taking the car back to the installer to have it looked at.

Answer
I would really recommend pulling all the fuses for the Viper just to eliminate it as a possibility, but I do not think this  is the problem.

I would not qualify myself as a mechanic, so I do not know if it is the battery, but I have had similar problems in the past where it was indeed the battery, but if jump starting it did not work this does not sound like the battery either.

This points me back to the starter/solenoid.  The single 'click' is normally a sign of either a bad solenoid/starter or battery.
