Car Alarms: Disarm Alarm, vehicle security systems, dash area

Question
Hi,
I left my car at a friend's house for a month when I flew home for
winter break and when I got back the battery was dead so I had
it jumped but decided to have AAA replace it before I drove back
to school. When the AAA tech removed my battery my alarm
went off and after he put the new one in it kept going off when I
opened the door. Now the car won't start and the alarm goes off
when turn the key in the ignition.  I have a 94 Cherokee but the
alarm is by Chapman Vehicle Security Systems and I found no
info about them  online.  This car was given to my by grandma
who had the alarm installed after she bought it and I don't have
the manual. Someone told me to turn the key in the door three
times and that didn't work.  I read somewhere else online to
press down on a button near the blinking light while turning the
car on but there's no button there; there's only a switch down by
where the alarm is and switching it either way did nothing. I had
to leave my car there and my friend is going to try and
disconnect it but she doesn't really know what she's doing.  The
battery has been replaced before but I don't know how they were
able to reset the alarm. If you have any suggestions I'd really
appreciate it.

Answer
I think you may have missed a step here.
Ok, try this.
Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, press and hold in the valet/overide
button, found under the dash area,
until the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area goes on solid, and the siren chirps once.
(Your valet switch might be the toggle (on/off) type.
in this case, key on, flip switch in oposite direction,
key off.)

This should reset the alarm.

Just Repeat these steps to place it
back to usable armed mode.

That should do it.
If you want to remove it at this point,
take it to your neighborhood installer
for this, or buy the wiring chart for
the vehicle, and reverse engineer it wire
by wire, until it's safely removed.

If it does not work out this way,
It could be that you lost programing
on the remotes. You would need
to re program them. or, you will have
to replace the system with one you know how
to operate and what to expect.

Let me know what happens.
