Car Alarms: Re: paging alarms, flash lights, remote start

Question
Alarmtek,

Thanks for the quick response!  Just a short follow-up...  My question about whether it pages or not was assuming I do have the LCD transmitter on me (let's say from the galaxy 5000).  The manual shows that by holding one button (if i'm remembering correctly), it will show me the current status of my car.  What I want to know is what happens on my transmitter when I'm sitting in class and someone's breaking in to my car outside.  Does it beep and vibrate and flash lights?  Does it do anything to get my attention, or would I have to hold the button and check the status to see that my alarm was going off?

Thanks again!
matt

PS  I certainly recognize the value of good service.  Whenever I end up getting an alarm, I'll surely keep it in mind.

Question -
Alarmtek,

I decided I wanted to get a paging alarm, so that I'll be warned if something's happening to my car when I can't see it.  After looking at prices, I think I'm going to go ahead and get a remote start too.  I saw in one of your other answers that you recommend the galaxy 5000.  I've looked at this and the rest of scytek offerings.  I don't really see the advangate of the galaxy 5000 over the astra 4000, even though the astra is cheaper.  What is the difference?  Are there any models or types that have better range than the others?  I've seen one or two that have "FM transmitters".  Do these have better range?

Also, the reason I've hesitated so far is because of reading the scytek product manuals online.  I noticed that during the description of the alarm sequence, neither of them even mentions the "pager".  When my car alarm is going off, does my transmitter beep or vibrate or anything at all?  That is, after all, the whole reason I want an aftermarket alarm.  If they scyteks don't, can you recommend others that do (in the same price range)?

Thanks!
matt

Let's take the last part of your question.
I think it is how it was writen,
but you are correct, the pager is the reason you
would get this system to begin with. So I
am assuming that the product description
at SCYTEK is implying that your have the pager
transmitter.

The difference from the 4000 and the 5000 is software,
range (at 1700) and also with the 5000 you get 2
LCD remotes, as opposed to 1 LCD & 1 5 button standard remote.

The systems are defined by AM or,
superhetrodyne FM signals.
The FM's do have awsome range (we've tested up
to 1.5 mi.) but then again, the AM systems are
incredibly good too.  I have the AM system in
my Suzuki truck, and it is just great.

Really depends on what you deal with daily. If in a city
area with large buildings and deep garages, I
would opt for the FM for certain, but I live in
flat old Florida, and I am very happy at 3000 ft.

I am not the cheapest guy out there but one thing
I offer over most all of the others, is end user
installation and back support. I am not
an Ebay liquidator, so if planning to buy elsewhere,
well, that is your call & I can respect that.

I will just leave you with this, You can
certainly get it for less, but be prepared
to be out there on your own, after the sale is over,
when you need ANYKIND of service or support.
They have a tendency to disapear during this
phase.

I hope you'd like to get this product here.
I have 10 in stock and if I knew the make
model & year of the vehicle this is going into
I can supply you with the vehicle notes, and
also what accessories will be needed to complete
the install correctly. (relays, bypassess etc...)

I hope this helps you
with your decision.

Regards,

Answer
Ah, my bad. Yes the pager will sound
an alert tone and will also annimate the LCD
according to the area or, sensor breached.
If the knock sensor is set off, then a
little hammer is showed hitting the windshield,
If the doors are opened, the door opens on the
pager, as well as the trunk. When remote started
you also get a warning tone, and it will show
puffs of smoke coming off the back of the car.

Very well appointed and functional.
They now also have a paging mode.
Very versitle.
