Car Stereos: replaceing factory radio, factory radio, jeep liberty

Question
Hello, I just purchased a 2010 jeep liberty. The factory radio has the uconnect system - so obviously there is a factory mic somewhere in the cabin of the car. It also has steering wheel controls. I have a jvc kw-avx748, which has blue tooth capability. It came with an OEM mic (which sounds terrible when i had it installed in my last car). My question is (before I start ripping my dash apart) will I be able to use the factory mic on my JVC? The input on the back of my JVC is a standard 1/8" plug. Also, my jvc has a wire dedicated to steering wheel controls, I assume this will control the oem unit just same as the factory unit? Thanks for your help.

Answer
Hi Chris,

Unfortunately, I have some bad news.

The OEM mic is not a 1/8" standard plug.  That would be too easy.

And to keep your steering wheel controls, you'll still need another unit.  There's a unit made by PAC I believe that will do what you need.
