Car Stereos: Subwoofer Install on Factory Radio, cadillac cts, rca outputs

Question
I recently picked up a 2009 cadillac cts and was wondering if you can install an amp and sub to the factory stereo.  It has a Bose system in it but i have a top of the line 10' sub wasting away in my garage I'd like to put to use.

Answer
Hi Kevin,

You can put anything in anything if you have enough money. ;)

In the case of this system, you have a few options.

If you want to keep the rest of the system stock, you'd need to install a new amplifier, run fresh wire to it, and then get its signal using a line out converter and tapping into the rear speaker signal wires to get the signal.

The alternative is to replace the head unit with an aftermarket one with RCA outputs, and then install a subwoofer like normal.
