i have an 1000w sony amp and i only get sound from right side left is dead how can if find the transistor that has stopped working?

Hi Steve,

It's not necessarily a transistor.  It can be any number of things.

If you're pulling the amp open to check for yourself (I'll assume you've already ruled out all the easy test stuff), then the first thing to do is look for the blown up/burnt spot on the board.  Often times, you'll find a cap that has exploded, a transistor/ic that has melted, or a black spot on the board.

If that fails, then your next bet just might be a new amp, because unfortunately, the cost to repair usually exceeds the value of the product.
