Car Stereos: Instal of aftermarket stereo for 04 durango, dodge durango, alpine stereo

Hi Justin.  I bought an Alpine stereo to replace my factory stereo in a 04 Dodge Durango.  I bought the correct wiring harness and attached it.  When I plugged the harness into the car, nothing happens.  No LED, no power, nothing.  I re-attached the old stereo, lights up, sound etc.  Any suggestions?

Hi Jon,

One of two things has happened.

The most likely is you've simply missed a wire.  Make sure there is ground, accessory, and constant all working and connected.  (I'd even suggest testing them with a multimeter to make sure before plugging them into the deck.)

The second most likely is that you've popped the fuse in the new stereo and it just needs replacement.  Most decks have their own fuse.

Last possibility is that you've got a dead deck, but that's pretty unlikely.  Start with the first two.
