Car Stereos: Wiring amp to stock HU in 2000 sunfire, inline fuse, gm models

Question
I recently moved my amp and subs from an old car to my 2000 sunfire. I hooked up power and ground, etc. The problem im having is that the stock HU has no remote or power antenna wiring. I just read a Q&A similar to this situation between you and a Justin concerning a 2005 silverado in april of last year. You suggested he splice into the 'class 2 serial data'. I tried this on mine (its a purple wire) but got no power after turning on the car. The rest of the HU wiring is as follows (for many older GM models):

Pin
Wire Color
Function

A1
PPL
Class 2 Serial Data

A2
PPL
Class 2 Serial Data (no wire here on my HU)

A3-A7

A8

A9

A11

A12

B1
ORN

B3
PNK

B4
GRY

B5

B6
PPL

B10

I have connected the remote wire to the constant 12V+ to ensure it has power, so at this point Im lost as to what to do. My radio turns off when the door opens, so I dont understand why splcing into the purple wire (class 2 serial data) doesnt work.

Any suggestions/thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Answer
Hi Matt,

If your deck doesn't provide some sort of remote wire, you might be forced to find something else in the car that has that functionality (perhaps the cigarette lighter?  And try that instead.  Be sure to put an inline fuse on it.
