Car Stereos: factory radio, monte carlo ss, aftermarket radio

Question
i have a 2000 monte carlo ss and the radio is an informational radio for tire pressure and oil and stuff so how do i hook up my aftermarket radio with out effecting this component do i even need this part of the radio someone told me that is has something to do with the computer and not to mess with it what are my options

Answer
There is a data bus interface that is used to keep the factory functions working, and ability to hook up aftermarket radio.  Of course, your aftermarket radio is not going to have the same display functions as the OEM stereo, so those options will be lost.  If you would like to learn more about the adapter, you can check them out at www.crutchfield.com ...  Also, you can call them and specific details about how it functions, if you like.  Hope this helps, Scott
