Car Stereos: 2006 Acura TL subwoofer installation, 2006 acura tl, acura tl

Question
Hello.

I recently read your answer to another writer's question
regarding adding amp/sub to the TL. I have an '06 Acura TL,
and an Alpine Type R/1242d 12" woofer with an Alpine MRP-
M500 amp. I have purchased the line output converter as
well (impulse LCF-3F). I tried to hook up the sub by using
the LOC on the factory sub, but I got nothing. I don't even
know which is pos and which is neg on the factory sub
because I can barely even see in there (after the trunk
lining was pulled down).

The LOC that I'm using has 5 wires (pos/neg right, pos/neg
left, and a ground). Which wires do I use on the LOC to
connect to the factory sub. I couldn't even get power from
my battery to the amp (I set it up so I could test it).

Please help me! Thank you!

Dan

Answer
Hi Dan,

The positive and negative wires on the subwoofer don't really matter very much for a line-out converter installation.  It would be a much more important issue if you were connecting the LOC to two different speakers, but since the subwoofer is a single mono source, you just have to be sure that you don't mix up the positive and negative wires at the LOC.  Just connect both positive LOC wires to one of the subwoofer wires, and both negative wires to the other subwoofer wire.  The LOC's ground wire should not be connected to anything.

You'll need to be sure you're connecting to the speaker wires between the factory amplifier and the sub, and not to any other wires at the amplifier.

Hope this helps!
