Car Stereos: Trailblazer Front Speaker Problem, 2003 chevrolet trailblazer, bose radio

Question
I have a problem similar to the one from  Will in March.  I have a 2002 Trailblazer with 55,000 miles.  I do not have the Bose radio.  The front speakers and chimes can barely be heard but after the car has been setting in the sun and gets hot they will work.  I took the panels off both doors and checked the connections and also the cable connection in the hinge area of the door.  They are all clean, dry and have not corrosion.

Answer
Hi Walter,

Will's complaint was the first time I'd heard of that particular problem, and yours was the second; but I'd say that's enough to declare a trend.  And, in fact, it appears that yours is not an unknown issue:  a Service Bulletin exists for the Envoy, Trailblazer and Ranier for "NO VOLUME FROM RADIO IN COLD AMBIENT TEMPERATURES FOR 20-30 MINUTES."  (The models listed are 2003-04, but there shouldn't be any substantial difference between the audio systems in the 02 and 03 Trailblazer).

Unfortunately, I can't find the full text of the service bulletin (unless I'm willing to pay for it).  There are various web sites that will allow you to download technical information about your vehicle, including all TSB's; if you decide to take advantage of this, keep in mind that this particular bulletin may not come up if you search for the 2002 Trailblazer info.  It's possible that your local dealer's service department can provide you with a copy of the TSB, however.

If you want to do some more research on your own, here's the information:

TSB# 01799
NHTSA item number 100006327

Hope this helps!
