Car Stereos: monsoon stereo issue, vw passat, stereo issue

My vw passat 04 monsoon stereo acts like it is reading my cd then seconds later spits it out stating error 1.
What does this mean.

Diane, Unfortunately, car stereo cd players are not made very strongly, and they malfunction fairly easily.  They usually need repairing.  Sometimes, not very often, you can put a laser cleaning disc in and brush the laser lens.  Sometimes the cd player will clean enough to play, but usually it needs to be removed and repaired.  Hope this helps, Scott
