Car Stereos: radio amplifier for 2001 monticarlo, monticarlo, amplifier

I have a chevy monticarlo ss and the radio amp. is constantly draining the battery. Is there a way to bypass the amplifier? Your help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Carolyn,

It would be more worthwhile to figure out why it's draining the battery.  Is your battery particularily unhealthy?  Is it an aftermarket amp and it's overpowered?  Does it kill the battery when the vehicle is off?  If it's a case of a short somewhere, just bypassing it won't fix the problem, and could do much more severe damage to something else.

Give me more information on it, and I'll try to make sense of what's going on.
