Car Stereos: Noise in the speakers from some part of the electrical system, toyota camry, rear speakers

Question
With radio removed from car , I am getting a high frequency sound from the speakers when almost any part of the electrical system is being used. Such as putting om brakes turning on turn signal .  Hitting the brakes or turning on the turn signal a second time will turn off the noise. The noise does not change with engine RPM. Having to replace the radio after one time burning a fuse and a second time of burning up with a good amount of smoke  Inspected wire through out but found one short to ground to the drivers rear speakers Others are fine.  or burnt wires  Car is 93 Toyota Camry XLE  All other electrical parts seem to be working OK  What can cause the interferrence noise ?  Thanks for your kind help Joseph

Answer
Hi Joseph,

High pitched sound from the speakers that don't change with RPM is usually a short as a result of electrical current passing through the speakers.  Inspect your doors for moisture, corroded or burnt wires, and anything touching that shouldn't be.

In the end, it might even be in your best interests to run fresh new speaker wire from the back of the HU into the doors and stop using those wires altogether.
