Car Stereos: JVC KD-AVX44J DVD playback, jvc kd, dvd playback

Am about to purchase the JVC KD-AV44J, but recently read that the DVD player will only work while car is in park. Is there anyway to get around that?

Yes you can, the only thing you have to do its ground the wire that controls that, sometimes though you have to buy some extra parts and or modules to be able to bypass this, like  the alpine im not sure about yours though.
