Car Stereos: nissan maxima bose cd player, 2004 nissan maxima, nissan maxima

Question
i have a 2004 nissan maxima with a bose stereo - 6 cd changer. i recently removed all 6 cds in order to put different cd's in. cd #1 started giving me 3 short beeps and telling me to eject disc - whenever i hit the eject button it just gives me the three beeps again - same thing whenever i try to eject or load any of the other 5 cd's. i tried to get the front panel of the stereo off to see if there was a cd stuck, but i can only pull it half off - scared to tug too hard. DO NOT have the money to get it repaired by a professional - isnt there someway i can do it by myself? the radio and all of the rest of it works fine, but i miss my cds!! HELP!!!

Answer
Hi Kimberly,

Stuck CDs in CD changers is all too common -- you'd think they'd have figured it out by now.

That said, you might have to remove the stereo from the car completely (it's not too tough, a few screws and clips -- you should be able to find information for it online.

Once you've removed the stereo, pull the cover off (I presume it's out of warranty anyway), and remove the disc by hand.  Put it all back together, and you should be good to go.  The alternative is to try and pry the CD out through the front using something, but that can lead to a busted CD changer, and will almost certainly damage your CD.
