Car Stereos: no sound from speakers only static, speaker wires, component type

Question
QUESTION: Well i hooked up a new head unit in my car and i'm pretty sure i did it right i've double checked the wiring a few times but, no sound comes from the speakers only static any chance u might know what's going on. Please and thank you.

ANSWER: Hi Marcos,

Does this happen when you try CDs too?  The reason I ask is if you haven't hooked up the antenna correctly, and you're testing with the tuner, you'll find almost no stations come in at all, so all you'll hear is static.

Does the volume of the static get louder if you turn the volume up?

Did you use an aftermarket harness?

QUESTION: Yes it does happen with CDs too. The static does get louder with the volume. And no i did not use an after market harness.

ANSWER: If it happens with CDs, and you didn't use a harness, the most likely scenario is simply that you've mixed up some wires.

If you have any old or component type speakers around the house, try taking them out to the car and hooking them up.  Do they give static too?

Also, there isn't a factory amp in this car, is there?

QUESTION: I couldnt find any old speakers but i tried again and still just static. I made sure i had the right speakers hooked up.
Have you seen this happen before and do you know what it might be.

Answer
Hi Marcos,

Yes I've seen this before, but it was a car that had a factory amp in it, and the speaker wires weren't wired correctly.  Unfortunately, beyond that, there's not much else I can tell you.  I'd suggest putting the factory harness back, and buying an aftermarket one and connecting to that to ensure that you have the right connections.
