Car Stereos: car stereo, sony explode speakers, fuse size

Question
I installed a car stereo in my 2001 Dodge Durango.  I have a Kenwood 7202 Amp, 4 6 1/2" Sony Explode speakers in the door, and 4 Infinity tweeters and a Sony deck.  I have not put in the subs yet.  I ran the wiring, installed everything (4 guage wire from the battery to a distributor block, 8 guage wiring to the amp).  Tweeters and 61/2" speakers are all being run by amp.  Each 6 1/2" speaker is 280 watts, each tweeter is 180 watts.  Amp is 1000 watt.  Question, when I turn up my stereo, I smell something like electrical heat coming from the front of the car (the amp is in the back).  I am sure that it is run right, but am not sure where the smell is coming from.  It is cold here and I run my heater.  Is it the new wiring? or is the heat hitting the plastic coating on the wiring, or is my Amp to small for this amount of speakers.  The speakers are no 2-way...they are 3 way.  Please let me know what you think........thank you!!!

Answer
Hi Tony

Thats a 2 channel amp -.- are you running crossovers? if you are not thats one too many speakers for that amp you should change your amp for a 4 channel and get crossovers or get 2 4 channel amps and run the 4 6 1/2's on one and the tweeters on another.

as far as the smell it could probably be bad ground check your ground wire its doing a good connection and that its not loose check the power wire at the batery make sure its not loose and its connected properly, check the fuse size on the fuse box it must be equal to the sum of the fuses on your amp.
check all the wiring you did, make sure you didnt smash the wires when you put all the moldings back with a clip or something double check everything you did.

Hope this helps.
