Car Stereos: my amp isnt working?, power antenna, dash light

Question
im not sure whats wrong but the power light on my amp doesn't go on an there is no output from the amp into my speakers.
the power is hooked straight onto the battery and its grounded on the car body.my head unit has sub and amp outputs but it doesn't have a cutoff remote wire for the amp. i put the amps cutoff into the dash light controller(hoping this had a positive wire). still not working.the power wires are working as i blew 2 fuses 1 after the other when i accidently rewired it backwards today.

please help me someone?

Answer
Hi Zak,
First of all let's hope you didn't damage the power supply when you wired it backwards... pretty good chance of that if you put in larger than rated for fuses..
Likely it's not powering up because of the remote wire being hooked the the dash light controller. Usually the illumination lead for dash lights is some form of variable ground.. definitely not ideal for remote leads. You need to trace the power antenna or remote lead from your deck and hook it to that. A quick way to test whether or not there is a power supply problem inside the amp is to disconnect the remote lead from the park light circuit, and jump the remote lead to the BAT + lead right at the amp.
If it powers up.. you need a different remote hookup... if it doens't power up, check your fuses at the amp and at the battery. If those are good, it means your amp is hurt.
