I am trying to put in an aftermarket cd player in a 2001 Chevy Malibu and on the connector for the stereo I cannot tell which wires go where, and I cannot find a color schematic diagram anywhere, could you offer any help?

Go to your local stereo shop and purchase a harness adaptor. It will match color for color on your stereo and plug straight into your factory harnesses. NO need to cut or struggle with color matching. Also makes it WAY simpler to retrofit to factory when you sell the car.
