Car Stereos: Static sound on speakers, subwoofer sony, aftermarket radio

Question
Hi, I have a 2006 Civic Lx with an aftermarket radio.  It is a DVT brand ddr-7065 DVD player double din. Also I have on all four speakers only (no Amp or Subwoofer)Sony Xplod 250 watt 6 1/2" on the car.  My question is that I connected everything just resently on the car and when I put the volume pass 15 whether the car is running or off it has a static sound out of the speakers.  The problem happens when I listen to the radio, CD, or DVD.  Is there anything that you can tell me to help me out, I would really appreciated it.  I am going nuts finding out what is going on.  I want to install and amp and sub in the future but I'm afraid that it would not sound good at all.  Please help!!!!!!!!!

Answer
Sounds to me like you either have a deck problem or possibly a shorted speaker. My recommendation is to pull it out of the car and hook it up on the bench to see if it does the same thing. If you don't have the means to do this, take it back to the shop where you bought it and ask them to test it for you. Also double check all your speaker leads with an ohm meter to see if any are shorted to ground or otherwise. It's good that you're getting this resolved before adding more gear...
