Auto Racing: Starting a Career in Rally or RallyCross, sports car club, rally racer

Question
Hi, my name is Andy Zai and I am fifteen years old. I would love to become a Rally racer. It is my dream. I just need advice on what I can do now to help me in the future. I saw that you helped Cale and I hope you can help me. I loved cars since I was six. My future in Rally or RallyX means the world to me.

Answer
Hi Andy:
I hope this helps.
Join the Sports car Club of America .  Go to www.SCCA.org,  look around for your area and join your local district. Attend meetings and ask members there to help you .  I'm sure someone there will know more about rally racing than I do. There is very little rally racing here in Florida  and I have never been involved.

As far as any racing career goes, the most important thing you can do is STAY IN SCHOOL and get your grades up - - - top of the class gets the top jobs later in life, and there is no room for second rate players.  The same is true in racing , school and college after will teach you the principles of working harder than anyone else, and that's what it takes to win - - -whether it 's racing or anything else.

I wish I could offer more advice or better information, but you'll be happy with what you find in SCCA, they are a great bunch of people and even though many of them are a lot older than you , they will be happy to help.

Good Luck

Hey Andy:
California is a hotbed of performance driving and racing, I know there are HUGE SCCA districts out there and certainly you'll find some people active in the rallying .  The SCCA.org site should direct you to your home district. You take it from there. Again, good luck.
