Auto Racing: CASTER ON HONDA, caster adjustments, honda crx

Question
i have a honda crx stock car, 1/3 mile oval. i was checking the caster and the wheelbase front front to back and its confusing and contradicting i think. the only way to adjust camber is from the bottom arm so if i adjust it to 1.5 degrees on the lh front and 4.5 degrees on the rh front it makes the lh side of the car longer because you are adjusting front the bottom. i was told the lh side of the car should be longer. what way is correct for turning left. thank you

Answer
I strongly recommend you get a book, "How To Make Your Car Handle" by Fred Puhn It's a bit dated but the info is quite good and understandable.  Your bookstore can order it, or try Amazon.com.

Your camber setup should be 1.5 degree POSITIVE camber on the LF and 4.5 Degree NEGATIVE on the RF. These settings will do little to alter your wheelbase.

Caster adjustments are accomplished by moving the TOP of the strut to the rear, increasing the front-to-rear inclination of the strut housing.  You will probably have to grind out the mounting holes for the strut housings to make this happen.

For now, don't worry about making the left side linger than the right. for now you need to get teh camber right and add some caster. Most cars come with about 2 Deg. of caster, try to add another 2 Deg. If you can still turn the steering wheel when it's sitting still, add some more. 5 Deg would be a max number if I were doing it.

Good Luck'
