Auto Racing: race car pedals, sarasota florida, gas pedals

hey im matt im about 5'5 and i race ump modifieds. i got a new car and i can move the brake and clutch foward but not the gas pedal. i cant because the firewall right after the gas pedal moves over about 4 inches. i was wondering is there any gas pedals out there that are a little longer than the ones i got. thanks

Well Matt, there is something somewhere that will help you . I don't know where you'll find it. Every driver has those problems , cuz every one of us is a little different. You are 7 inches shorter than I am and there are cars you can race that I couldn't even get into.

Your answer may lie in a junk yard somewhere. Or it may be hiding in your subconscious. Think about it a while , and do some looking around the junk yards, I'm sure that if you think about it , and look around at older cars, you'll eventually find something that will be a help.

Try older Datsun and Nissan, and Toyota's. Many of them had simple throttle systems that were easy to adapt. Don't go to a throttle cable though, I can't tell you how many races I've lost due to the damn cable getting snarled, frayed, stuck, or simply not working.
