Motorcycle Repair: 1978 XLH shovelhead sportster, pushrod, push rods

Question
Hello,
I just bought a 1978 HD XLH 1000cc sportster.  I bought it quick and did not inspect it as closely as I should have, but it runs looks great and I got a good deal so...
I took it around the block to see how it ran and noticed oil leaking out and pooling on the right side of the bottom end.  It looks to me like the oil is coming from where the push-rods (the ones that operate the rocker-arms) come out of the transmission.  The bike has four rods, two per cylinder, and one rod on each cylinder is leaking.
Is it possible for oil to leak there and if so can the problem be fixed by replacing the gaskets or do you think the problem might be elsewhere.  Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

Answer
If that is where your oil is coming from its a easy fix. remove the clip, slide the cover up and remove the pushrod by adjusting it smaller. Remove the pushrod and cover. Replace the gaskets in the cover. There is one in the middle, one at the top and one at the bottom. Installt he pushrod and cover and adjust the pushrod. Install the clip in the cover and you are good to go.
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
