Auto Racing: Headers, chevrolet camaro ss, internal engine components

Question
We have a 2000 Chevrolet Camaro SS.  While pulling onto a highway, the oil pressure dropped.  It was diagnosed by a shop as having 4 bent rods and a spun main bearing.

At 32,000 miles, the dealers took one look at the car and voided the warranty for the repair.  The car has headers and Borla exhaust, chrome wheels, custom gauges and emblems.

We are in the middle of arbritation with the Better Business Bureau over this.. I need to prove that headers could not cause this type of damage,

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Answer
Hi Kathy:

Sounds like you have a bit of a probelm. I hope you have a good attorney representing you , you'll need good legal advice.

I can't imagine how a header system could cause a drop in oil pressure, or a spun bearing, or bent rods.  All it is is an alternative method of removing exhaust gasses from the engine and has nothing whatsoever to do with internal engine components.

I doubt that a court would recognize me as an expert witness on the subject, after all I'm an amateur engine builder and race driver. However, you might try looking in the local phone book for performance engine builders or performance machine shops, they should have pro mechanics on staff who could testify in your behalf.

I wish you lluck with the dealership and the arbitration, there are several reasons I would never buy a car from a dealer, you have just given me another !

Good luck
