Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Poulan 2150 Chainsaw fuel line question, fuel line hose, needlenose pliers

I need to replace the fuel line from the gas tank to the primer bulb.  My existing damaged fuel line had a small plastic connector connected to the fuel line in the gas tank and it was located at the top of the tank where the fuel line hose penetrated the tank.  There was no fuel line connected to the bottom side of the in line connector which is confusing to me?

The new fuel line is so flemsy I cannot push it through the fuel tank hole even after spraying hole and line with WD-40.  What the trick here?

Does the new fuel line go through the hole and to the bottom of the tank?

The "primer" bulb is actually a purge, it is designed to pull fuel through the carb, and the excess just goes into the tank..
The other fuel line on the other nipple on the carb is the pickup
and should have the weighted filter on the end of it, so it stays in the fuel whichever way the saw is tilted.

  The fuel lines are supposed to be a tight fit, so they won't leak.
The easiest was to get one started is to trim the line at an angle to get it into the tank, and then can be pulled on through by grabbing what is sticking in the tank with needlenose pliers,
and pulling hard.
  As said before, the return line needs to just be inside the tank.
