BMW Repair: Remote key, 2001 bmw 330i, bmw 330i

I have a 2001 BMW 330i.  VIN not available right now.  The car belonged to my son and he started having a series of problems.  First the sun roofwouldn't shut (not sure if that is related). Then the key remote stopped working(he only has one).  We were able to still manually lock & unlocl the doors.  Now the key won't turn to unlock and once we got into the car (through the trunk) we were ablt start the car but still not able to operate the locks.  Any thoughts?

Kittieryan, I believe the sunroof may be a different issue, I would replace the General Module behind the glove box (central locking controller). The Module needs to be coded by the dealer. Let me know how it turns out. Give the dealer both vehicle master key and ask them to initialized the keys to the new module. Make sure you don't have the trunk lock in the horizontal position (hotel mode).
