BMW Repair: no aircon/blower, repairable, capacitor

have a 1996 318i and the display for the fans/aircon etc has gone from flicking on and off intermittantly over 6 months or so to not at all. have no control at all over temp inside car.very hot in summer!! is this contol unit repairable or perhaps a sender unit fromsomewhere else is the culprit?

Ian, The control unit is most likely faulty. It is a little expensive. You need to have it coded by the dealer to get is to work properly. There is an alternative repair. It involves replacing a capacitor on the circuit board. Please try this website www.macadamizer.com/bmwfix.html
